What: Free photos with Santa!!

Join us with your fiery feline and cuddly canine during our free pet photo event. This event has historically been offered on the last day of our pet food drive for Meals on Wheels of So. Florida's Companion Pet Program. in lieu of donations of food, monetary support for meals on wheels for pets, can be made online or (link) or during the event on Saturday, Dec.14th.

As always, one photo will be printed on site and digital prints will be made available online for downloading.

Meals for Companion Pets Founded in 1999, the Meals for Companion Pets Program is a volunteer-driven effort providing pet food to homebound and disabled seniors in Broward County. Research shows that seniors with pets are less likely to exhibit depression, report feelings of loneliness and experience illness. But taking care of a pet – feeding, grooming and veterinary care – can be financially and physically burdensome to seniors. More often than not, a devoted animal lover with limited access to food will feed their hungry pet before they feed themselves. Pet food is provided through the generosity of local donors and grants and is delivered on the third Saturday of each month. Volunteers are always needed on the third Saturday of the month to pack & deliver food.

VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital (VCAHAH) is proud to once again join Meals on Wheels of South Florida (BMOW) for Companion Animals to collect food for pets of homebound seniors throughout Broward County. Each year we are affirmed by the success of previous years’ food drives that this effort positively impacts our community. With even more support this year from our local purveyors, neighboring businesses and fellow Veterinarians we are once again able to match donations received and offer more locations for drop offs.

Donations of canned and dry food for cats & dogs made from November 10th- December 16th, 2017 will be deposited into BMOW for Pets’ food bank and portions will be matched by the VCAHAH*.

BMOW delivers pet food once a month to homebound seniors who need assistance taking care of their in-home pets. Pet food is provided through the generosity of community donations. The need for donations of cat food is in particular demand among BMOW clients.

 Meals on Wheels for Companion Animals started when volunteers began to notice clients sharing their meals with their pets. Senior on a restricted budget can have a difficult time meeting their own needs and often the needs of their companion animals can be neglected. With only the support of volunteers and donation this organization provides delivery of food for these loyal pets once a month to clients of BMOW. Broward Meals on Wheels Food Drive Results- 2014!!!!

The VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital Meals on Wheels Food Drive for Pets was a success!!!!

Every year we are excited to sponsor this drive and are grateful for the consistent community support. Food donations this year nearly matched the total combined donations of last year. A total of 3479 lbs of food were delivered by the community and with our hospital's match of 1500 lbs. the final amount delivered was nearly 5000 pounds of food this BMOW for Companion Animals.

As we have shared on Facebook, many community groups organized their own food drives to help support our efforts. Additionally, over $800 in monetary donations were made which will allow this volunteer based program to continue to provide food for community pets even after our bounty is used. 

Thank  you to all who donated, shared and supported this food drive! Thank you to our sponsors; Henry Schein, Hills and Purina for helping to make the VCA HAH match possible. Community Bank Now Collecting for BMOW!!!

 We are very proud to announce the partnership with Community Bank in Hollywood in our efforts to support Broward Meals on Wheels for Companion Animals Food Drive. This community business has started their own drop off point for donations to give back this season.



Between now and December 20th dog and cat food donations can be made at either VCA HAH buildings or  Community Bank in Hollywood.
