VCA Hollywood and Meals on Wheels of South Florida for Companion Pets (BMOW) is proud to once again join forces to collect food for pets of homebound seniors throughout Broward County. Once a month, volunteers deliver pet food to homebound seniors who need assistance taking care of their in-home pets. Pet food is provided through the generosity of community donations. When: November 10th- December 16th Monday- Saturday 7:30am- 7:00pm WHERE: VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital (Drop off sites in both the main hospital and annex building) 2864 Hollywood Boulevard, one block east of I-95 Hollywood, Florida 33020 954.920.3556 HOW: Just stop by with a donation of canned, dry, or dehydrated food for cats or dogs. BMOW clients are in particular need of Cat food this year. Each year, we are affirmed that this effort positively impacts our community. VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital (VCAHAH) is proud to once again join Meals on Wheels of South Florida (BMOW) for Companion Animals to collect food for pets of homebound seniors throughout Broward County. Each year we are affirmed by the success of previous years’ food drives that this effort positively impacts our community. With even more support this year from our local purveyors, neighboring businesses and fellow Veterinarians we are once again able to match donations received and offer more locations for drop offs.

Donations of canned and dry food for cats & dogs made from November 10th- December 16th, 2017 will be deposited into BMOW for Pets’ food bank and portions will be matched by the VCAHAH*.

History of the VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital

Our History 

The Hollywood Animal Hospital was originally built in 1947 by Dr. C.E. Dee and Dr. I.C. Frederickson on what was then the western edge of the City of Hollywood. The announcement of their practice at 2864 Hollywood Boulevard was sent to the community on November 1, 1947. The phone numbers at that time were Hollywood #1253, Ft. Lauderdale #862 and Miami # 7-7727.

In 1978, we completed the construction of our current medical facility and in 1996, opened the Outpatient Clinic, which is also referred to as the Annex, located next to the hospital.

In 2010, the construction of our final addition commenced adding several thousand square feet to our practice and expanding our services to include a comprehensive Canine Physical Rehabilitation Center and CT scanner facilities.

In 2014, Veterinary Centers of America (VCA) purchased our practice and included us in a family of practitioner over 750 strong.

Since its inception, the VCA HAH (as it is commonly referred to) has grown to include a staff of more than 22 doctors including Boarded General and Specialist Veterinarians. With more than 100 technical and support staff employed compassionate and communicative team appreciate the special role that pets play in our lives.  In addition, we prioritize the lifelong commitment to continuing education as an integral part of the philosophy of our medical staff.

We are an ever growing animal hospital available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to provide the finest veterinary care to our patients and to assure that their owners are well informed and comfortable with the decisions made regarding their pets care.

Community Bank Now Collecting for BMOW!!!

 We are very proud to announce the partnership with Community Bank in Hollywood in our efforts to support Broward Meals on Wheels for Companion Animals Food Drive. This community business has started their own drop off point for donations to give back this season.



Between now and December 20th dog and cat food donations can be made at either VCA HAH buildings or  Community Bank in Hollywood.

Hollywood Animal Hospital Helps Return Stolen Pet

HOLLYWOOD —

A black-clad gunman, stymied by his sidewalk victim's lack of cash, snatched the one available item of dubious value: An ailing Yorkshire terrier.
Within about 72 hours, Hollywood code enforcement officers found little India along the Dixie Highway corridor, police said Friday.
The dog was taken to the Hollywood Animal Hospital, determined to be in stable condition, and was returned home.
Even so, owner Damica Clark said, when found, her dog had suffered broken teeth, eye homorrhaging and an abrasion down its right side.
The person who stole the dog remained at large on Friday, police said.

She was dashing down the Dixie Highway corridor Friday in Hollywood when code enforcement officers spotted her and the chase began.
India, a 9-year-old Yorkshire terrier, was determined to run all the way home to Miami, owner Damica Clark said. The dog had been missing since Tuesday when she was snatched at gunpoint in Hollywood.
The officers followed little India for a while, Clark said. The dog finally got tired, cut through someone's yard and collapsed.
India was taken to Hollywood Animal Hospital, where she was reunited with Clark.
"I feel horrible," Clark, 31, said. "I know she's in a lot of pain physically and emotionally, and there's not much I can do."
