Pilots for Paws Rescue Event!!!

On Oct 2,2015 VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital helped deliver 20 healthy and happy rescue pups for transport during the Pilots for Paws “Brock’s Memorial Flight” Flyway. This unique air caravan of more than 85 planes containing over 400 rescued animals from 37 rescue organizations from around the country departed from the Rock Hill, SC on Oct 3rd. Their destination, new homes and  non-kill shelters throughout the U.S.

Beginning in the late weeks of August, VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital began working with our local Jamie’s Rescue to provide medical attention to the 20+ pups she rescued from a local county shelter. These dogs, mostly middle aged and seniors needed a wide range of health care attention. Each pet needed to be isolated during their initial treatment to ensure no hospitalized patients would be exposed to the common communicable diseases seen in shelter pets. Once treatment to restore health was complete, they all received their wellness care which included complete vaccine protocols, grooming and of course-shining their pearly whites. These pups were set to travel.

Early Friday morning, volunteers from the American Humane Association arrived to transport these dogs to South Carolina where their itinerary awaited their trip to forever homes.

We were very proud to be a part of this wonderful event and see the beginning of their journeys home.
