Dee a Family Legacy

Alma maters are important, especially to Vets.  Auburn University holds a special place in the hearts of the VCA Hollywood Staff in that from those hall, we were born. Recently, Auburn University did a piece on the Brother’s Dee and the legacy that the Dee family has imparted on our community.

Now over 75 years old, the structure of animal care that the Dee family build includes generations of Veterinarians, Technicians, and staff that have been luck enough to spend a lifetime caring for animals. Inspired by their parents, Dr. Jon, Dr. Larry and Dr. James passed on to our hospital and to the veterinary community a legacy to be proud of.

February Team Member of the Month- Samantha!!

This month we recognize a team member that shows her commitment to the VCA HAH through her sincere dedication to the care of animals.

Samantha J. joined our team officially in June of last year but was a regular volunteer for many months prior. Coming to us by way of the Humane Society of Broward County-were she still volunteers- she stands out in her role as a part time HAH Vet Assistant.

Always bustling around helping clients and -frankly, anyone that asks- she is depended on greatly by each department. She is forever with a smile and always able to stay above any work place drama!

Her attention to details is appreciated here and we are confident it will help her in her academic pursuit to be a  Zoo Veterinarian. Samantha is someone we believe will continue to make a large impact on the animal world for years to come and it is our pleasure to recognize  her as our February Team Member of the Month!!

September Team Member of the Month- Kris!!!!!

Our Team Member of the Month for September will likely ‘hate’ this award. Always preferring to stay behind the scenes, Kris L is far from out of the spotlight. As the Supervisor of arguable the most well run team in the hospital, Kris simply gets the job done. She takes great pride in her work and she cares about her staff. 

As our Kennel Supervisor, Kris is well known for her commitment to care. While she may not be able to name every owner’s face she certainly knows their pet and makes it a point to keep the staff up to date on pet’s changing diets, dispositions and desires.

Kris is one of select team members that work directly with our K9 Police Departments. She is a trusted member of their team and her no nonsense attitude makes her the perfect match for these no non-sense officers.

In addition to her Supervisor duties, Kris has her plate full assisting with the hospitals purchasing and is a go to for all stock when in need of just about anything!

Kris is always willing to help no matter how full her plate is and I will assure you- it is plenty full. 

For all of her efforts behind the scenes that make us run so smoothly, for the treats she cooks up to share with us all and simple for the incredible role of support she plays for this practice, we are happy to highlight Kris L as our September Team Member of the Month!

August Team Member of the Month- Anna!!!!!!

She is awesome!!!

With the latest Team Member of the Month nominations, it appears we are having a lovefest with our Emergency Night staff!!!

  It is no real surprise either because this group works tirelessly while the rest of us literally rest.  Their expertise and passion for patient care manages our our most critical patients all along being ready to handle any kind of emergency. The accolades for this team member in particular could be no more deserved!!!

For 20 years our Team Member of the Month, Anna, has been a part of this crew. She has lent her expertise to the technician team and now plays a more supportive role behind the scenes.

While many of our day staff have never met her. Some do not even know her position exists. However, her productivity in the wee hours of night make each of our days caring for pets more informed, more efficient and simply better!

This unseen star is certainly super and while she may like the low profile, her role is irreplaceable. We are very please to recognize, Anna  as our August Team Member of the Month!

April Patient of the Month- Skippy!!!!

We were first introduced to our April Patient of the Month when he was scheduled for rather routine procedure. But when we met him it was very clear that there was very little routine about him. His personality was awesome and his story, we thought was worthy to share. 

Born before his front legs were ‘complete’, this wee pup found a forever home quickly with a family that decided they knew just what to do= love him to pieces!!

Having to learn to walk upright, Skippy has never known life another way. Life is not always easy but he has a spirited and loving disposition and certainly seems happy.

Because of his breed and his basic anatomy, walking like this forever is not ideal. He has a skate – which he frankly does not love. “He wants to look out not up” said his mom. However, his family works continuously to find the proper ‘wheelchair’ or prosthetic care that will keep this wee one moving for many many years to come. 

We are pleased to share his triumph and recognize him as our Patient of the Month. We were inspired by this little Chihuahua and hope you are inspired by him too.

Team Member of the Month- Nicole

This month's team member has made an impact on our practice over the years with her genuine passion for animals and care for people. This season though she has shared her many other talents to help the HAH and our community. Nicole has been with the HAH for several years and during that time she has completed her schooling to begin a career in cosmetology. While her career goals may not be in Veterinary medicine her commitment to our animal community is strong.

This month we would like to Thank! Nicole for many things.
Thank you, for her handy work that created the collection boxes for our Broward Meals on Wheels Food Drive. Thank you, (and our other staff artist- Joyce) for our incredible holiday window decorations and finally, Thank you, Nicole for coming out full Elf garb for our Photo's with Santa Shoot last Saturday and helping to make the day a success.

Nicole is consistently someone you can rely on. She is a positive influence on our practice and a pleasure to have on our team. Thank you, for all you do December Team Member of the Month!
