Team Member Highlight- Esteban!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For over 70 years, VCA Hollywood has provided the finest veterinary care to our community of pets. This care is provided by a team of over 21 doctors supported by a staff of nearly 100. Each team member chosen as a representative of the VCA HAH for their unique skills and passion for animal care. So often though, the support staff that enables the HAH to shine do not stand in the limelight. They support our goals from behind closed doors with smiles that some never see. Today we would like to move the spotlight and showcase one of our team members we would like to clone.

Some may say that as a rule adjusting to a new job is a challenge. Our unique crew may not be an exception to this however, Joining our Technician Team less than a year ago, Esteban seemed to assimilate with ease.

Whether his name preceded him or his personality made it seem that way, he fit in right away and simply did the work. His previous work experience was highlighted through his care and attention to our patients and his knowledge base made him valuable in multiple departments. Today, he is a valuable contributor in our in house pharmacy, a leader among our day technician team and a critical member of our weekend emergency team.

All in all, he is a strong contributor to our success. He is reliable. He is capable. He is kind. He is a pleasure to be around and can be counted on to leave a situation better for having been there. For these reasons our staff has a message from him.

VCA HAH- Team Member Highlight-Janika!!!

Every business' relies on the strength of its many parts for success. Each part works with the other to provide support and growth. This is no more true than with our colleagues at that VCA HAH. Our incredible staff arrives every day with a commitment to share their love of pets and their parents. 

This partnership of care has been epitomized by one HAH team member in particular this year and one we would welcome the chance to brag about!

While it has only been 4 months since Janika found us, her work ethic has elevated her from any potential shadow. Her hard work and dedication has proven her to be a true team player. She is a quick learner and willing to take on new tasks, Her commitment and compassion is visible in her willingness to help anyone and anywhere is needed. 

Janika is a pint sized powerhouse who's care for animals, care for people and care for hardwork has imprinted itself on our staff. She is a leader and we are pleased to highlight her as our team member.

Team Member of the Month- Marketta!!

              "It takes a village..."

This African proverb is a great truth in everyday life, school, family and business. At VCA HAH it is no less true. Most often the many moving parts do not see or even interact with one another other but depend 100% on each other's success.

 This month, we recognize a team member that has been a part of our team for eight years. She is described as 100% dependable. She is amendable to change and certainly holds the confidence of her superiors. Markeeta, a seasoned Pharmacy Technician, is an expert at her job and is overall 'awesome'! For that reason, she is recognized this month as our Team Member of the Month!!

February Team Member of the Month- Samantha!!

This month we recognize a team member that shows her commitment to the VCA HAH through her sincere dedication to the care of animals.

Samantha J. joined our team officially in June of last year but was a regular volunteer for many months prior. Coming to us by way of the Humane Society of Broward County-were she still volunteers- she stands out in her role as a part time HAH Vet Assistant.

Always bustling around helping clients and -frankly, anyone that asks- she is depended on greatly by each department. She is forever with a smile and always able to stay above any work place drama!

Her attention to details is appreciated here and we are confident it will help her in her academic pursuit to be a  Zoo Veterinarian. Samantha is someone we believe will continue to make a large impact on the animal world for years to come and it is our pleasure to recognize  her as our February Team Member of the Month!!

January Team Member of the Month-Alexis!!!

It takes every department in this practice, working together, to make our hospital a success. However, it is arguable that the Front Office Staff has the yeoman's job of serving our clients and our staff from start to finish for every client, every day. There is certainly few dull moments up there.

However, our January Team Member of the Month makes these tasks move seamlessly. Coming up on 9 years with our family, Alexis has seen us through the good and the not so good days.

She is known for her quiet disposition and vocal pup but most importantly for her commitment to getting things done.

If ever you need something, you can bet on Alexis to come through for you. She simply does her job without muss or fuss and brings a quality of calmness to everyone.

This month we would like to thank her for all she does to keep our ducks in a row and our staff and client happy. She is truly a star team player!

November Team Member of the Month- Sarah!!!!!!!

November is the month of Thankfulness! Throughout this season we are all reminded of all the many thing we are grateful for. True to form our November Team Member of the Month mirrors that reminder.

Having only been a part of our team for a short time, Sarah K. brings a strong leadership quality to our staff. Utilizing her HSBC expereince, Sarah started as a volunteer earlier this year but thankfully, hired on to our Veterinary Assistant team. Quietly she worked and quickly she merged, seamlessly, into our flow.  

Now, as our Vet. Assistant Supervisor, Sarah manages a group that arguably has the most diverse responsibilities and who handles the most extensive customer care.

Always, with a smile and always with a "yes" attitude, Sarah handles her role with great care, calmness and pride. We are grateful for the job she does and the ease she brings to our team. We proudly recognize her as our November Team Member of the Month!!!

Team Member of the Month- Mary Ann!!!!

 For over 20 years, this team member has made things happen- mostly behind the scenes of the day to day events of patient care. However, without her we would have no equipment to use, no medication to administer, in short, none of the necessities to provide the quality of care we are so proud of. 

Mary Ann B. is an integral part of keeping our team running. She is our Purchasing Department.  She is our go-to when we need……...anything, bought, fixed or ordered!  Even more than that, clients ask for her by name. She goes out of her way to help a client with questions about food, medications and preventatives. As our Police K9 Officer coordinator she is well known by officers across Dade & Broward County as the one to see for food, appointments and meds for their partner. 

We count on Mary Ann to know all the answers and she always comes through. She loves pets, she loves their people and it shows.This recognition has been a long time coming and it is certainly well deserved. We are lucky to have had her on our team for so long and we are pleased to recognize Mary Ann as our October Team Member of the Month!

September Team Member of the Month- Kris!!!!!

Our Team Member of the Month for September will likely ‘hate’ this award. Always preferring to stay behind the scenes, Kris L is far from out of the spotlight. As the Supervisor of arguable the most well run team in the hospital, Kris simply gets the job done. She takes great pride in her work and she cares about her staff. 

As our Kennel Supervisor, Kris is well known for her commitment to care. While she may not be able to name every owner’s face she certainly knows their pet and makes it a point to keep the staff up to date on pet’s changing diets, dispositions and desires.

Kris is one of select team members that work directly with our K9 Police Departments. She is a trusted member of their team and her no nonsense attitude makes her the perfect match for these no non-sense officers.

In addition to her Supervisor duties, Kris has her plate full assisting with the hospitals purchasing and is a go to for all stock when in need of just about anything!

Kris is always willing to help no matter how full her plate is and I will assure you- it is plenty full. 

For all of her efforts behind the scenes that make us run so smoothly, for the treats she cooks up to share with us all and simple for the incredible role of support she plays for this practice, we are happy to highlight Kris L as our September Team Member of the Month!

August Team Member of the Month- Anna!!!!!!

She is awesome!!!

With the latest Team Member of the Month nominations, it appears we are having a lovefest with our Emergency Night staff!!!

  It is no real surprise either because this group works tirelessly while the rest of us literally rest.  Their expertise and passion for patient care manages our our most critical patients all along being ready to handle any kind of emergency. The accolades for this team member in particular could be no more deserved!!!

For 20 years our Team Member of the Month, Anna, has been a part of this crew. She has lent her expertise to the technician team and now plays a more supportive role behind the scenes.

While many of our day staff have never met her. Some do not even know her position exists. However, her productivity in the wee hours of night make each of our days caring for pets more informed, more efficient and simply better!

This unseen star is certainly super and while she may like the low profile, her role is irreplaceable. We are very please to recognize, Anna  as our August Team Member of the Month!

July Team Member of the Month- Saskia!!!

Weekday Night Crew!!!!

It is arguable that the backbone of our practice is our Emergency Technician staff, as they are often tasked with dealing with our most critical patients at their most critical time. Yet, they are a big part of our team that largely goes unseen by much of the staff!

While most of us are winding our days down ,our ER Technicians are just beginning their's and are responsible for upholding our standards of quality care through the wee hours.

This month we want to say 'Thank you' to one of these team members that from day to day, largely goes unrecognized.

As one of our Certified Veterinary Technicians, Saskia has been at the VCA HAH for 7 years and brings a great deal of expertise to the table. While she started out as a STAR! Daytime Technician she quickly made the choice to switch to nights and settled in with our all-star weekday team.


Saskia is team player. She is a wonderful example of someone that always puts the animal 1st!!Even at the end of her shift (the start of most of ours) she has a smile on her face and a laugh to be heard. She is an asset to our practice and to the excellence care we strive to provide.

We hope many reading this will never have the need to meet her during the late night hours but if you do, her genuine care for animals, her attention to detail and her focus on the job will go to the best possible care for your pet.

June Team Member of the Month- Sarah!!!!

Fun Fact! This month’s Team Member of the Month’s mother actually trainined our current Hospital Manager when she was a new tech!  

One could say that her unique histoy with the VCA HAH has made her a part of our family right from the start. Sarah S.,may carry the title of Assistant Receptionist Supervisor but her list of tasks vary by need. 

Hiring on some four years ago, Sarah has made it clear the she is a motivated and capable team member. In these most recent months she has taken the initiative to help whenever there is a need and sincerely, “Step up!” 

She lead our team in fundraising for the Humane Society of Broward Count Walk for the Animals 2015. She (and her children) can be counted on to help at during our outreach events like Boxer Friends’ Dog Bowl and most recently when asked , Sarah stepped into our accounting department to help out. 

Sarah has certainly earned her stripes in our HAH home. We are very pleased that she has continued her family’s history of being a part of the VCA family. We are happy to highlight her as our June Team Member of the Month!!  

May Team Member of the Month- Connie!!

One may wonder how our monthly team member highlight is chosen. While we have never thought to share that process before, this month's team member's recommendation seems a good time to share.  Throughout our everyday, coworkers see the nit and gritty of how people work. It is these candid experiences that we rely on to help us showcase the true stars in our mist. 

Some employees go unnoticed, not because of a sub-par job but rather because their consistent excellence is taken for granted and therefore overlooked. Today we take a moment to recognize one of these stars that has made excellence a habit.

Recommended by her peers. In a flood of suggestions that remind us to take notice, our May Team Member of the Month is Connie!

Celebrating her five year anniversary with the VCA HAH this summer, she is definitely star. 

We recognized her for taking on challenges when asked. For her honest understanding of her strengths and weaknesses and her constant strive for quality work. 

An excellent listener, Connie pays attention to what is needed even if it is not always what is said. She helps out in any way she can and is willing to adapt to meet the changing needs of our hospital. She simple says "yes" when a request is upon her. She simply makes 'it' happen and does so with apparent ease.

We appreciate Connie as a valuable member of our team and are proud to recognize her this month!

March Team Member of the Month- Karlyne

Many of you may see this face and immediately recognize her for her many years of service to the VCAHAH. If so, then you will also be reminded of the years we were without her.  Thankfully, though Karlyne has returned to our animal house and somehow all seems right again.

When Karlyne began working at the VCAHAH, now almost 10 years ago, she began by learning the ropes as a Veterinarian Assistant (VA).  She was a star employee who quickly rose through the ranks and was asked to be VA team leader. This role was perfect for her, she was a star. However, when family called, Karlyne had to answer and for several years she shared her talents elsewhere.
. 
Since her return, Karlyne has fallen right back into her role as a leader. She exudes positivity and the staff gravitates to her whenever in need of a helping hand. She can always be counted on to get the job done, not only with 'lightening speed' but with a critical eye on perfection.

She fits in well with our family and "has the patience of a saint- both with our patients and staff!"
She is a true asset to our practice and to our team. We are thrilled she is back and happy to recognize her as our March Team Member of the Month!
